Clap Monkey

Clap Monkey

Clap Monkey was born in the same place where The Rolling Stones were coming from when they made Exile on Main Street, or where The Replacements were at when they cut All Shook Down. Loud, tart, tangy guitars, unpretentious vocals, lyrics loose and seemingly tossed off. With electric guitar, drums and vocals, Clap Monkey makes Rock and Roll the way it needs to be played – raw, real and right down to the bone.

The band formed in early 2017 – songwriter Anthony Neff was taking a break from playing solo acoustic shows in support of his four solo records, and was primarily playing electric guitar to prepare for his next record. At the same time, Jeff Mullins (of Brothers Grim, Adam Lane & Jeff Mullins) was getting back to playing drums after spending the past decade concentrating on guitar. The two started playing together, working on songs Anthony had already written as well as coming up with new ones, and project Clap Monkey was launched. Their goal was to play stripped-down rock and roll, and above all else – to have fun.

Clap Monkey makes you want to dance, drink and think about what it all means…but not until you’re totally rocked out.
